I know that the book had many messages, but I ran into was which implied that places like the Midwest and Southeast further promote moral values in a place on the east coast like New York. This was true in the 20s, You think that remains true today?

Can not say much. When I read the book in the 11th grade was not because it was more subtle. Perhaps if I read it now I would be able to look differently.
